I'm Chris Bailey, welcome to the first UK Investor webinar. I've got Nigel Wray, a well-known early stage investor in big names such as Domino's Pizza and Saracens Rugby Club.

Nigel Wray and Chris Bailey discuss why this Covid-induced recession is one of the strangest ever and hope the economy bounces back soon.

Nigel Wray thinks that if you look at the great fortunes of the world it is actually made by people staying with their companies for long periods of time. And I think that's a very important factor in the success of companies and fortunes, as compound interest matters.

Nigel Wray admits he called Apple wrong, he thought it was too high at 300 million, but is now 1.3 billion. However, he expects that there are 1001 other tech companies didn't make it.

I think the high street will be gone. I think online shopping will replace it. I think people will work from home. I think there will be a lot more social interaction.

I think small investors should be putting in a little bit of time listening to the results of companies, asking questions, trying to work out body language, etc. to improve their investment returns.

Nigel Wray gives his views on maximum position size for investors, He suggests no more than 5% in any stock

Is there any value in a private investor having serious investments in bonds and cash? apart from a bit of cash to tide them over difficult times? Nigel thinks these are options people should consider and look at their risk appetite, but if you are being offered a high interest rate, ask yourself why.

I think we've got to get Brexit done because I think the young people today have a much more entrepreneurial spirit. One of the problems for this country is that we are so dependent on the government for jobs.
